Single vs Double Rooms
Twin room = 2 single beds usually cm wide that can sleep 1 person per bed So, yes, you would be right to check, and make sure there is specific reference to an additional bed or a child being allowed to stay in the room. Jun 14, · Europe - UK: Twin room vs. Double room - I'm confused about the difference between a twin room and a double room when booking hotels in the UK? I keep seeing these 2 choices on websites and don't.
Me, my husband and our 10 year old daughter are going for what helps stop baby diarrhea self drive trip around few countries in Europe for 3 weeks in June. We are from Kuala Lumpur.
We had booked the car and the accomodation for all stops through a self drive website and recently paid for everything based on quotation given. Upon payment, we have promptly received vouchers for the car as well as for all hotels booked. I have however notice that the room type for few of the hotel vouchers is different from what was quoted in the confirmed quotation.
For example, for a few hotels, the quotation says " 1 double room with additional child bed and breakfast ". However the voucher only tick on double bed box with no remark of additional child what restaurants give a free meal on your birthday provided.
I have wnat this query to our travel agent but they said those rooms with no remark of additional child bed would have two twin beds. My understanding of twin beds is a pair of single beds 2 single bedsbut the agent said 2 twin beds mean 2 double beds, so no additional child bed is required and child can stay eurpoe in existing bedding.
I am not so convinced although Ib know that in some hotels especially in the US, they do provide 2 double beds in their standard double room. I am not so sure of Europe though. My impression from my previous trip to Europe is, each bed are quite small in size and twin beds means a pair of single size bed. When we did our booking ourselves in our previous trip, we always had to book for a triple room which has 3 single beds. I have requested the agent to reissue the voucher to put remarks of room type exactly as per quotation in order to avoid unnecessary misunderstanding on room type during check in.
Infact for one of the hotel in the city of Paristhe quotation says triple room but voucher only ticked double bed. Unfortunately, the agent has been silent. I would really like to believe that they will provide us 2 double beds in those room to fit 3 of us, but I hate imagining that we would arrive at those hotels only to find two single beds pushed together to fit 3 of us, when we actually paid for a quotation which specifically says " double room with additional child bed".
How to look up a car license plate number someone advise me as to what does it mean by twin beds in Europe? Maybe I am just too aa Most of the hotel vouchers that I have problem with are those that the agent booked with Best Western Chain.
Do you think I should insist for the vouchers to be reissued? From my own experience, I think what is a twin room in europe a twin bed is a twin bed--sometimes two are pushed together to make one large bed for two people. In Europe the Best Western hotels are individually owned; the "chain" part is primarily the reservation system. So it's unlikely that each hotel will be the same, and as you suspect it's rare to find two double beds in one room. If I were you I would send messages directly to the hotels where you have bookings, specify exactly what you want, and ask for a confirmation.
In my own establishment a double what is callate in spanish is a bed that will sleep two typicaly over cm widea twin room, has two single beds, as stated above, get in touch with each hotel and get them to confirm what your agent has booked before you arrive. So, yes, you would be right to check, and make sure there is specific reference to an additional bed or a child being allowed to stay in the room.
Thank you all. It is good to know that ekrope "chain" is rkom for reservation and that they are individually owned so they are not necessarily same. I will check with each of the hotel first and then reconfirm with the agent. Actually the only reason why we use an agent is so we do not have to do all these checking.

What does this mean? Does "single" mean twin bed? Or one bed? Does "double" mean one larger bed? Or two beds? In Germany you will see Einzelzimmer, EZ, which is a room with a bed twin for one person. A Doppelzimmer, DZ, is a room for two people, usually with one wider bed, but occasionally with 2 twins. Sometime you will see a Zweibettzimmer, 2BZ, which will have 2 beds, each for one person.
Normally a single room is for one person and a double room is for two persons. The term does not refer to the bed or the bed size; only the number of persons in the room. A major difference between Europe and the US is that in the US we tend to rent the "room" regardless of the number of people using it but in Europe the rates are almost always dependent on the number of people in the room.
The smaller and older the place, the less standardized the rooms and furnishings will be. I have stayed in "doubles" that have ranged from a single small bed, to a "large" bed for two, to two beds pushed together, a room with three or four beds, and once a two bedroom apartment with a kitchen and living area. If you want something specific, you will need to ask, or just ask to see the room expected by some hosts.

As previous posters say, the older, smaller hotels have lots of character, in other words, rooms come in all shapes and sizes, often no two being exactly alike.
