In this instructable, i decided show you how to make a Remote Control Car at home. Instead of making a simple remote control car, this time i decided to build a F1 RC car using cardboard.
The cardboard is most easily available and makes it feasible for almost everyone to make this car at home. All the materials used to make this car are easily available, however, i have also mentioned online links for the necessary parts.

Reply 3 years ago. Yes, that is true, li-ion batteries can sometimes be dangerous if not used appropriately. This is why i have used a TP module with protection to prevent over discharge and over charging of the battery. More by the author:. About: Hello Guys, I am techgenie, an Electronics hobbyists, tech tinker and developer. Cut a cardboard piece of about 4" x 10". Refer to the image above and cut the base for the F1 car. Cut a wooden stick of about 4" and mark three points as shown in the image.
Take a plastic gear and drill a hole equal to the diameter of the wooden stick. Fix the gear at the second marked point and seal it with super glue. Fix ball bearings at the other two marked points and secure them with super glue. Note: You can use tape to increase the diameter of wooden stick for fixing the bearings.
Cut few circles from a cardboard and paste them together over eachother like a stack. Drill a hole at the center and fix a toothpick in the hole. Paste the circular cardboard with toothpick at the nose of the car base as shown in the image. Insert another piece of cardboard over the toothpick and secure it with super glue such that it is free to rotate. Cut a wooden stick and make a hole at the center using mini USB drill. Insert the thick wire through the hole and fix it using super glue.
Assemble the pieces together and attach it to the car base as shown in the image above. Draw three circles equal to the diameter of 1. Place the bearing at the center and mark the circle around it. This article is focused to guide hobbyists to build their own homemade RC car with minimal components. To build a RC car we need to make sure that these blocks are available. The above blocks are divided into two sections Remote and Car for the purpose of understanding.
Starting from Keypad which controls the movement of the Car whereas Encoder and decoders are meant to encode and decode the movement signals for secured transmission. Also transmitter sends the movement signals through wireless medium and receiver fetches the signals for the destination.
When these buttons are pressed it passes the movement signals to the encoder,. The Data pins AD0 to AD3 is active low hence pressing the button closes the circuit and a logic 1 or high signal is fed to these pins. It also contains Address Pins A0 to A7 which allow us to try out different address combinations for secured transmission of data but make sure you use the same address combination in the receiving end decoder.
The Dout Pin gives the encoded output data. This frequency is fixed using the resistor R1 1. Modifying this resistor value will alter the output frequency. The received encoded data signals is received through the antenna and the signal is obtained from DATA pin to feed the decoder.
The signal is then decoded by the decoder, remember to use the same address combination used in the encoder if any otherwise the movement signals will be interpreted incorrectly. The decoder also consists of VT pin which serves as a identification if any RF link is established, LED was connected to this pin for identification. In our case HT12E oscillation frequency is 3. Hi Rado, Sorry about that. The article is updated with the schematic that uses 9v battery. You can use any power supply from 3V to 12V it should work. You have to modify the ROSC R1 resistors in both the circuits if you intend to use different voltage refer the datasheet for that.
